Big Brother Blues

How many of you have been following Big Brother Africa 2? Have you seen anything more annoying? Well I must confess I have not been following the show religiously as such given my tight work schedule, but the little I have watched about the goings on in the BB house in recent times leave an unsavoury taste in the mouth.

Ok, for those of you who have not been following the show,(where y'all been anyway?) here's the plot: 12 housemates were selected from 12 different African countries. One person gets evicted every week during the show that will span 98 days until the last man (or woman) left standing wins the prize; a whopping $100,000!!!!!!!!! (Imagine all you could do with all that money...and someone is going to get all that by simply waking up and sleeping and basically being themselves...life is so unfair. but anyway,)Three housemates have been shown the door out of the house living nine. Recently, however, a strange trend has emerged in the house. Back biting, gossiping and inflated egoism have become the order of the day. The most annoying aspect is the fact that some of the housemates that came up for eviction last week took umbrage because they hitherto, considered themselves "untouchable" Four bloody jokers who believe that the rest of the house and indeed Africa should kowtow to them because they "bring entertainment." These 4 are made up of an empty Ghanaian who cannot quite make up his mind about which country's accent to adopt; now sounding like an American, then like a drunk mexican and then when he gets carried away, he reverts to his unmistakable Ghanaian accent. This joke of a fellow spins the most fabulous yearns you can ever think of. He wants us to believe he has hung out with some of the major players in the world's entertainment sector. Ha! Yeah right! Then there's lerato from SA. This loud and foul-mouthed, overweight and ill-shaped slob thinks she is the best thing that has ever happened to the house nay, Africa. All this Bibendum (Remember him? The Michelin mascot?) look alike does is lay about the house, smoke cigarettes and talk down at other house mates. She determines (wishes) the pace in the house and shouts down any dissenting voice. She is a great manipulator of minds and several of the housemates defer to her every whim. She is a major player among the "untouchables" and she is palying the game to the fullest.
Next on this list is Max. This fool is so besotted with Lerato that he lets her push him around. His nomination for eviction shook the entire house and widened the cracks that already existed. Though he has tried to keep a straight face and play up an image of calmness and nonchalance all through the week, his attitude and body language betrays the turmoil he feels in his heart. If the messages on the website and the sms strap on TV are anything to go by, then his days in the house will probably end today. He along with his crew, "the untouchables" have generated so much ill-will from viewers and its beginning to look like Max will not only be voted out, but actually swept out of the house. Last on this list is Bertha. Now what can I say about this Zimbabwean? She started out playing the role of the archetypal miss-goodie-two-shoes with all the early morning prayers and reflections about "how she is not like the other girls" But she has since shed that toga and bared her fangs. She is a cold-blooded snitch who has a knack for hunting with the wolves and running with the sheep (not too sure I said that right but it would have to suffice lol) She has also dropped the holier than thou image for a careless role in the hay with Kweku, the americo-ghanaian (Ha!) She is currently playing both sides but is unaware that all the housemates can see through her. She is an absolute two-faced snake and is a clear example of the kind of friend yo mama warned you against.
The chips are down and the eviction show will be on TV later this evening. Will Maxwell survive the storm? I sure will keep y'all posted.
